National Housing for Older People Awards back for 2012!
The awards are voted for by residents of retirement/sheltered/extra care housing, etc..., using a fun card game designed to stimulate discussions and help capture satisfaction ratings on design, services, and well-being.
Despite having to adapt to economic realities, the Awards hope to grow beyond their previous successes of attracting the participation of 2140 residents in 2010, and 3517 in 2011.
- Nominations from all forms of housing for later life will be received between 1st October 2011 and 31st March 2012.
- The Awards celebration will take place at the Legal & General Headquarters in London on 21st May 2012 (see Draft Programme)
The 2012 awards are proudly sponsored by Legal & General.
How do we enter the 2012 awards?
This service uses EAC's entertaining card-game resident consultation tool to inform managers and housing providers on how their residents value their home, the communal facilities, the services they receive and the lifestyle.
“We’re really pleased with the reports – they are simple to read and understand, and the benchmarking element is very useful... I’m now arranging to meet with staff and feedback to residents... really focuses attention on the key issues.”
Peter Huntbach, Brighton & Hove City Council.
For a quote or to arrange a consultation, email housingawards@eac.org.uk or phone 020 7820 3755.
Schemes not using our Resident Consultation Service can buy the nomination packs at £10 + VAT (£12) each. We very much regret to have to introduce this charge; free distribution is no longer sustainable, except for almshouse charities.
One pack contains one deck of cards and enough score sheets for use by 3 groups of 4 people. More packs are needed if several groups are to play the game at the same time.

“We have never entered any thing like this before and found it a really nice way of getting together and communicating with our customers...”

“Everyone commented how much they enjoyed it!”
Senior Scheme Manager.
“Just to let you know that we had a great afternoon yesterday with 3 groups of residents playing the cards. We managed to engage with a number of residents who receive care services and do not always find it easy to get to social events. All agreed that it was an interesting and enjoyable way of discussing feelings on the place that we live in and the services we receive.”
Chairman.
“...She said the residents had combined it with a coffee morning and really enjoyed it, they had a good laugh. ... the questions were just right and she & her manager thought it was an excellent idea to get the residents' feedback, so much so that they are keeping the pack of cards & intend to repeat the exercise every 12 months...”
Scheme Manager.
