Visit EAC’s Over 60s art awards website dedicated to our annual art competition for amateur artists.

Now in its 17th year, this national art competition continues to encourage and celebrate the talents of elderly people, whose age range from 60 to 100 years of age. The 2010-11 competition, which closed for entries on 4th March 2011, offers selected artists the opportunity to exhibit at The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists’ RBSA Gallery in St Paul’s Square, The Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham from 10th to 21st May 2011.

Each year since 1994, around 2,000 entries are received from a wide range of amateur artists submitting works of art in a variety of mediums including watercolour, pencil, charcoal, collage, pastel, acrylic, textiles, enamel, photography and sculpture.

Entries come from amateur artists working from home, from retirement and sheltered housing schemes, as well as from care homes and day centres, demonstrating the popularity of creative activities in retirement throughout society.

One essential achievement of the EAC art awards cannot be shown at the annual exhibition, and that is the enjoyment it gives to the participants. The satisfaction of being engaged with art and developing one's own skills is really what enhances the quality of life of each amateur artist.

Don’t just take our word for it. Visit our Art Awards website  to find out further information, to view a gallery of 800+ finalists’ works from 2003 and to vote for the 2011 People's Choice Award.
