Close care homes are independent retirement flats or bungalows built on the same site as a care home. Residents of the retirement properties may be able to arrange for the delivery of domestic services or elderly care services from the care home to their own home. Close care homes are generally a very small group of retirement bungalows closely linked to a residential care home or a nursing home to which residents may have the option of moving. Larger developments of retirement apartments and bungalow under the same management as a care home are often called care villages or become an extra care schemes.
