Socialising > Transport

Socialising through use of transport can help older people to minimise their isolation, and there are various means of transport available where there will be other people. These include local community transport, volunteer transport agencies, dial-a-ride, buses, trains, taxis, minicabs, boats, and minibuses. Transport can take older people to places where they can socialise with other people, for example transport can often be arranged to take elderly people to day centres. Volunteers with their own transport can provide elderly people with companionship and an outing. Social clubs and day centres sometimes organise coach or minibus outings in accessible transport.
