Day care for older people

What does it do?

A wide range of help is available, some of these include:   
  • personal care as necessary
  • help to regain lost personal care skills
  • understanding staff
  • hot and cold meals/drinks
  • organised activities
  • transport door to door (with assistance)
  • companionship
  • bathing facilities (if appropriate)
  • advice and support to families and carers
The frequency of attendance will be assessed by the Social Worker and agreed with you.

Day care at a centre for older people may be one of the choices available to you if some of the following apply:
  • you are over the age of 65
  • you need care and activities outside your own home
  • you need help to increase your independence
  • you need help with bathing
  • the person who cares for you needs a regular break

What to expect then:

A Social Worker/Care Manager will visit you to assess your social care needs and together we can decide if this is the service for you.

If we cannot help you a Social Worker will discuss other services which may be of help.
