Day care for older people
What does it do?
A wide range of help is available, some of these include:
Day care at a centre for older people may be one of the choices available to you if some of the following apply:
- personal care as necessary
- help to regain lost personal care skills
- understanding staff
- hot and cold meals/drinks
- organised activities
- transport door to door (with assistance)
- companionship
- bathing facilities (if appropriate)
- advice and support to families and carers
Day care at a centre for older people may be one of the choices available to you if some of the following apply:
- you are over the age of 65
- you need care and activities outside your own home
- you need help to increase your independence
- you need help with bathing
- the person who cares for you needs a regular break

What to expect then:
A Social Worker/Care Manager will visit you to assess your social care needs and together we can decide if this is the service for you.
If we cannot help you a Social Worker will discuss other services which may be of help.
