Gateway Partnership

What does it do?

Information and Advice About Care and Support for All Care Groups in Slough
Gateway will provide information and advice to people with disabilities, older people and their Carers. The service will be
available by telephone, e-mail, text, fax and face to face surgeries across the Borough.
The partnership, led by Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East includes organisations covering a wide range of disabilities. Specialist expertise will be available for those with learning disabilities, mental illness, physical and sensory disabilities, the onset of dementia and several other care and support needs.
Gateway will also facilitate the operation of a number of groups for Carers, which are already much needed and highly regarded services, where Carers can obtain information and advice and meet with those in similar situations. Gateway is also coordinating a number of support groups operated by the specialist organisations in the partnership.
These are particularly useful for those who need some support but do not qualify for a package of social care.
The new comprehensive service covers all care groups, with information and advice being available to all. Some other aspects of the service (advocacy, Carer crisis support) will be subject to eligibility criteria, to ensure that resources are focused on those in most need.
