What does it do?

Personal Care:

  • Dressing and undressing / preparing the client for day care or trips out.
  • Washing / bathing/ showering / shaving / grooming / cleaning teeth.

Hair care

  • (washing / brushing).

Nail care

  • (fingernails only).

Toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene.

  • Continence management.
  • Care of pressure sores (under appropriate nursing supervision).
  • Assisting with the use of aids to daily living / rehabilitation aids, as required.
  • Helping with rehabilitation programmes, as prescribed by healthcare professionals.

Healthcare:

  • Assisting the client to take prescribed medication.

Dietary Care:

  • Preparation of snacks and meals according to the client’s preferences
  • Assisting with feeding, as required.

Domestic/ Household Services:

  • General cleaning duties, to include cleaning / dusting / vacuuming / polishing.
  • Bed-making. 
  • Clearing refuse and rubbish.
  • Laundering /hand-washing / ironing / light needlework, as required 
  • Fuel Management.
  • Shopping, the preparation of shopping lists and assistance with budgeting.
  • Light gardening tasks (subject to previous agreement)

Who it is for?

Older people.
People with mental health difficulties, dementia, Alzeimer’s
Adults and children with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, sensory impairment,
HIV/AIDS.
Terminally ill and individuals recovering from an illness. We provide services to those who are self funding, receiving direct payment or  individual service funds( personal budgets)

Regional service (Greater London, Hertfordshire).

What it costs:

Most services are  £12.50 per hour monday to friday

What to expect then:

On receipt of a referral from a potential service user directly or from friends , family  local Social services department we will arrange a visit to the service user to complete a risk and support assessment. Based on the the service user’s needs and identified outcomes A support plan is developed with the agreement of service user and their representative if appropriate. The service user decides on what support services they require including the length and times of the calls where services are provided in service user's own home.

Additional information:

In October 2011 we had a  compliance review visit by the Care Quality Commission which covered three key outcomes  and the inspector’s judgement was:

  • “ The service involves people who use the service and their representative in their care. It actively seeks their opinion on how the service and care are to be delivered. This ensures that the individual and diverse needs of the people who use the service are met”
  •   “ People who use the service are well treated and there are safeguarding arrangements in place. This ensures that people who use the service are protected from abuse and their rights are respected.”
  •   “There are arrangements for staff to receive essentail training and ongoing support. This ensures that all staff are able to meet the needs of people who use the service”
