What does it do?
Tring Day Centre is open four days a week Monday to Thursday at Victoria Hall from 10.00am to 3.30pm on. We can accommodate up to 15 older people a day. On Fridays we are at the Spring Centre at the Hospice of St Francis, off Shootersway in Berkhamsted. Our days are designed to help carers to have some respite.
At the centres we are able to provide some personal care. We also provide a range of social activities, which all clients can join. We aim to meet the individual needs of clients in a caring and supportive environment and enable them to build and develop their own abilities and maintain the personal skills that they have.
We encourage our clients to make choices about their lives, both in the centres and as members of the community, and also to enjoy themselves through meeting new people, making friends and taking part in group activities.
Gentle exercise, art and craftwork, playing dominoes or board games, play reading, quizzes and discussion groups are some of the activities which are on offer to the clients.
Transport is not automatically provided for people attending. Users' needs will be assessed by the local Health & Community Services Area Teams to see if any support is needed with travel, and a variety of options will be explored. Where it is identified that the person requires specialist transport, the Area Team worker will arrange for it. Where transport is provided by Adult Care Services there is a charge to the person of £2 per return journey if they are assessed as being able to pay
