Pinfold Lane Day Centre

What does it do?

Pinfold Day Centre provides a specialised day care service to meet the needs of people with Alzheimer's and Dementia. It also offers support to their carers and family members. It is important that they maintain their existing skills and enable the service user to stay at home. Pinfold Day Centre provides an access to social activities and interaction for them. The staff are experienced, highly qualified and have a great understanding and knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia.

Pinfold Lane Day Centre provides a monthly Carer Support Group that anyone can attend to gain advice, information and support as a carer.

The service is provided within a safe and stimulating environment giving service users an enjoyable day with therapeutic and social activities as well as giving carers a break from caring.

Pinfold Lane Centre is a purpose built day centre situated on Pinfold Lane opposite Whitefield Library. The Centre has the advantage of being surrounded by a green open space with an accessible safe garden at the back. It is within walking distance of the local shops and good public transport.

The Centre has places for up to 40 service users a day Monday to Friday and 20 places on Saturday. The Centre provides a service to the whole of Bury.

The Centre is decorated, furnished and maintained to a high standard. The Centre consists of a large main lounge plus 2 small lounges, a large dining room, a hairdressing salon, 2 bathrooms, 3 toilet areas, laundry, small rehab kitchen, the main kitchen, 2 offices, 1 medical room and a staff room.

The car park has its own large car park adjacent to the unit so families who wish to use their own transport will find this very useful.

The back garden is fully enclosed, safe and has been landscaped and designed to offer pleasant sitting areas with large lawns, a paved patio and planters and borders with a colourful and fragrant borders and shrubs. For the summer months we have tables, chairs and sun shades so that everyone is able to enjoy the garden but be protected from the sun.

The Centre is a non smoking unit.

The centre is open for service users from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday

How to access or apply for it:

To access day care - once a diagnosis has been made a referral from a professional e.g. Psychiatric Consultant, GP, District Nurse etc to Adult Care Social Services who will carry out a Community Care Assessment to identify the service users needs, this may result in a referral for day care.
