The centre offers a chance to socialise and more support than an ordinary Day Centre can, such as helping you to go to the toilet and reminding you to take your medication. It also offers enablement, recuperation and long-term therapy, working closely with occupational therapists and physiotherapists to ensure that you maximise your independence, mobility and living skills. It also provides your carers with a well-earned break.

• Relaxation sessions and aromatherapy
• Internet access with support and training if needed
• A range of tabletop activities to promote eye to hand coordination and stimulate the mind
• A quiz group
• Skittles
• Cookery
• Music appreciation
• An art and craft group
• Conversational French
• Discussion groups covering a wide range of topics from current affairs to health issues and reminiscence to encourage social interaction
• A monthly church service and private area for prayer
• Regular outings and shopping trips

Facilities and services include:

• Person-centred planning with individual care plans, regular reviews and an allocated key worker
• Professional, committed and caring staff
• A safe, clean and friendly environment
• Bathing, chiropody and hairdressing
• Adapted toilets and a shower/toilet equipped with a ceiling track and hoist
• A therapy room stocked with a wide range of therapy aids and adaptations
• Access to a showroom in the complex where users can try out sensory equipment to see whether it will meet their needs at home
• Weight monitoring
• Breakfast, a two course lunch with a choice of menu, and teas, coffees and light snacks throughout the day. Dietary and cultural needs are catered for.
• A purpose built Aids to Daily Living kitchen for users to regain skills that have been lost during a long hospital stay, for instance, or following a stroke
• A conservatory
• Washing and drying facilities and spare clothing should there be an unexpected need during the day
• A private room with a changing bed
• Telephone and wheelchair access and a loop system
• Door-to-door transport in a wheelchair accessible bus, with a driver and escort
• Health, welfare and benefits literature and information
• A Carers’ Group, service user forum and a quarterly user satisfaction survey.

for people over 60 who live in the London Borough of Richmond and have been assessed as needing help due to frailty, a physical disability and/or sensory loss and high level care needs.

Morning or afternoon attendance is available at half the full day price.

You may have to contribute towards the cost of your support, depending on your level of savings, income and expenses.

If we can make a contribution, we call this a Personal Budget. You can look after the money yourself and use it to arrange your own support, or you can ask the Council to hold the money and help you to find the support you need.

If you don't qualify for financial help from us and we’ve assessed your needs as eligible, you’re still welcome to use Sheen Lane Intensive Day Care Centre but you’ll have to pay the full cost of the service.

Sheen Lane Intensive Day Care Centre is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and closed on all Public Holidays.

We’ll need to discuss with you what support you might need - we call this an assessment.

We may offer you short term assistance called Reablement to regain your independence or confidence. This service lasts for  up to 6 weeks and is free.

After Reablement, we’ll discuss any ongoing needs you might have through a Self Directed Support (SDS) Assessment, where we’ll estimate the cost of your support and let you know whether we can make a financial contribution.
