Physical Disability Mentoring Scheme

What does it do?

Mentors offer on a voluntary basis to give time and support to encourage another, this will typically be when someone is making a change in their lives. There are a range of services that the team can offer from advice and support to signposting to counselling and transport services.
Mentoring is for a fixed period of time and will begin with an initial visit to assess a mentee's needs. This will be done by the team coordinator.

The aim of the Mentorship scheme:

  • To mentor someone through a period of change
  • Enable self-assessment of needs
  • Give advice and support
  • Signpost to advocacy/counselling/transport services

Who it is for?

Mentors and mentees must be resident in Manchester, must be under 65, and must have a physical disability.

Where it is available?

Local service (Manchester).

How to access or apply for it:

If you would like to have a mentor or would like to become part of the mentorship team you can contact us yourselves by emailing us with your personal details or alternatively you can get your care manager to make a referral. For further information call 0161 273 2016.
