What does it do?Respite Care is where additional care arrangements are made for a person who is unable to take care of themselves in their own home. They can either spend some time in a residential care home, or additional paid care can be provided within their own home, to give them and their carers a break.

Who it is for:

If you need a break from home, or the person who cares for you is taking a break and will be unable to continue their caring role for a short time, a respite break can be of use.

Local service covering: Basildon, Braintree, Brentwood, Castle point, Chelmsford, Colchester, Epping Forest, Harlow, Maldon, Rochford, Tendring, Uttlesford (Essex).

How to access or apply for it:

If you have not spoken to Essex County Council, you need to get in touch with Adult Social Care on 0845 6037630 to find out whether services are available to you. If this is the case, they can arrange for the necessary assessments to be carried out.
