What does it do?The Shopmobility Scheme provides on a daily basis a selection of manual and powered wheelchairs and scooters to anyone who has difficulty walking around Guildford Town Centre. It is not necessary to be registered as disabled to use the service.
The Scheme is sited on Level 3 of the Bedford Road Car Park in Guildford where it has its own free of charge parking area alongside the Office. Access to Level 3 of the Car Park is via Leas Road. A pedestrian walkway leads from the Car Park to the Friary Centre and other areas of the Town.
By prior arrangement you can be met at a pre-set point should you be travelling by taxi, bus or train.
For those who have never used mobility vehicles before, instruction to familiarise yourself with the vehicle will be given in the practice area alongside the Office. The staff do have the right to refuse the use of a vehicle should they feel that you are not capable of using the vehicle safely.
The Shopmobility Scheme is open Monday to Saturday from 10.00am to 5.00pm but all vehicles must be returned by 4.45 pm. The Scheme is not open on Bank Holidays. |
