What does it do?We provide a helpline for social care emergency situations that cannot wait until the local offices are open.

The helpline is available weekdays between 5.00pm and 8.00am. Weekends and bank holidays are covered 24 hours a day until 8.00am the next working day.

What to expect then:

Your call will go through to our answering service, run by Harmoni Ltd. They will only want your name and a contact number as they will pass your details as quickly as possible to our duty manager, who will ring you back as soon as they can. Please note there may be a delay during busy periods.
The duty manager will try to deal with the call over the phone, where possible. If they decide an urgent, complex assessment is needed they will ask a qualified social worker to do this.

Additional information:

Our out of hours team covers the whole of West Sussex. For adults, it deals with:

urgent assessments under the Mental Health Act, in conjunction with appropriate doctors
immediate threats to a vulnerable adult's safety or welfare
