HOMES offers a variety of services, including HOMESWAP, a UK-wide register of council, housing association and housing co-operative tenants who want to swap homes.

The Homeshare service is based on the principle of barter. The householder offers a bedroom and shared use of the home's facilities in return for practical help, companionship and security. The homesharer pays for his or her own food, telephone and other personal expenses. No money ever changes hands between the two parties. Homeshare Co-ordinators assess the needs and preferences of older people and find homesharers to match those needs.
