Show more "Gateway Housing Association residents, gave Rushanara Ali MP, a warm welcome at the official opening on 27 November 2015, of seven new - build wheelchair accessible flats, a new guest suite and a beautifully designed upgrade to make Edith Ramsay House the gold standard in sheltered accommodation.

With staff and residents looking on, Ms Ali planted a rowan tree in the grounds of the sheltered accommodation scheme, on Duckett Street, E1, named in honour of the charismatic East End activist and pioneering educator.

The upgrade work, made in consultation with residents, family members and staff has been designed specifically to make the accommodation more inclusive, offering greater wheelchair accessibility along with a designated area for mobility aids storage. Crucially too, the new flats mean more people can now call this popular scheme home.

Importantly, the new works have also been planned to remodel communal spaces so residents can socialise more easily and further work has seen four bedsits converted to two flats to be more in keeping with the high level of aspirational living Gateway is offering
its sheltered accommodation residents." Show less
