The court is in the Bensham area of Gateshead, which has pubs, social clubs, doctors surgeries, dentists and a Post Office.Gateshead Leisure Centre and a range of supermarkets are within a short drive from the court. Shoppers have a number of options to choose from, with good transport links from the area to the nearby Team Valley Retail Park, the Metro Centre and Newcastle city centre. There are bus stops a few minutes walk from the court that provide access to a range of routes.
There are gardens around Fountain Court, with a pathway all around, secured by a metal fence to protect privacy and safety. Residents are able to take over a small patch of the garden outside their living rooms to put in their own choice of plants and flowers. There are hens in the back garden, living in a coop in the shape of a train carriage – a shape chosen as a freight line runs near to the court.
