Local allotments are also very close by for those wanting to grow their own vegetables.On East Parade there is a post office & local Co-operative, hairdressers, fruit & flower shop and other businesses including a veterinary practice, dental & GP surgeries and Boots pharmacy. There are two churches just five minutes away from Glen Lodge: Holy Trinity Heworth is on the junction of East Parade and Melrosegate, and Heworth Methodist church is located on Heworth Village. East Parade also boasts very good bus routes to a variety of destinations, including York city centre, Scarborough, Whitby and Leeds.
