It is a sheltered housing with extra care scheme. The building resides just behind Glen Garden’s bowling green and tennis courts, which extends around Glen Lodge to include a children’s play area and several projects being undertaken by the British Wildlife Trust. Local allotments are also very close by for those wanting to grow their own vegetables.

On East Parade there is a post office & local Co-operative, hairdressers, fruit & flower shop and other businesses including a veterinary practice, dental & GP surgeries and Boots pharmacy. There are two churches just five minutes away from Glen Lodge: Holy Trinity Heworth is on the junction of East Parade and Melrosegate, and Heworth Methodist church is located on Heworth Village. East Parade also boasts very good bus routes to a variety of destinations, including York city centre, Scarborough, Whitby and Leeds.

Palnning permission secured in February 2016 for 25 new flats in a 3 storey extension to the existing building plus 2 new bungalows. From this month residents will receive on-site care 24/7 rather than the current 7am to 11pm service." Show less
