Show more "Queen Mother Gardens is a purpose built sheltered housing scheme, providing very sheltered housing with 24 hour support for older people who are sight impaired. The apartments, schemes and grounds are easily accessible and convenient to use. Route recognition aids assist tenants to move freely around their apartments and the building. These include, wide hallways and doorways, contrast décor and flooring, audible aids, guide rails and markers, talking notice board and speech guided lift and tactile signage.

Each tenant is supported by a team of experienced and dedicated staff who enable the tenant to identify their support needs, wishes and aspirations and put them in contact with resources and information to reduce social isolation and offer support to adapt to day to day life with sight loss. This information is pulled together into a support plan which is regularly reviewed and led by the individual tenant. Support provided varies in degrees of assistance as directed by each individual tenant.

Queen Mother Gardens has a scheme manager who ensures the smooth administration of the scheme, supported by a team of experienced and trained staff. All staff are trained in safeguarding and work closely with each individual tenant to enable them to identify safeguarding measures and understand the Association’s policy and procedures and their right to be safe within our services. Each scheme has a speech alarm call system which enables tenants to summon 24 hour emergency assistance." Show less
