It was built in the early 1960s as a two storey building. During the late 90s the flats were refurbished and a third floor added. Today there are 39 flats. A lift has been installed and the Residents’ Lounge is a large and pleasant, sunny room. The House has its own attractive courtyard garden, providing residents with that rare amenity; a peaceful, enclosed space within an essentially urban environment.

All the flats are carpeted throughout, are well decorated and centrally heated. The sitting rooms are spacious and light and the bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. The kitchens have built-in units including an oven and separate hob with extractor fan. There is also a space for a fridge-freezer. The bathrooms are equipped with showers. All the rooms have a generous supply of power points and a television aerial socket. Residents provide their own furniture and the Scheme Manager can advise on suitability if necessary. The Scheme Manager or Relief Scheme Manager visits’ each day or more often if needed. Their aim is to ensure the well-being of all residents without intruding on their right to privacy. For added security, each flat has a Scheme Manager call system. For more information about John Betts House contact the Scheme Manager on 020 8749 5331." Show less
