Owner's description

“Gwalia Mynydd Mawr is a purpose built nursing home, with a dementia-friendly design. We will offer several types of stay at Gwalia Mynydd Mawr depending on the needs of the resident; long term stays for those requiring ongoing nursing care, short term rehabilitation treatment and respite care, we will specialise in providing dementia care.

Gwalia Mynydd Mawr is divided up into five clusters of thirteen, giving a total of 65 bedrooms. It has been designed in clusters to make the building seem smaller and less daunting, creating a friendly, close-knit community feel. Each cluster has an assisted bathroom and lounge and dining room where residents can enjoy each other’s company.
Each room will have a flat screen television, telephone point and ensuite facilities. Satellite television will also be available upon request. Many of the bedrooms will have views of the courtyard gardens or the spectacular scenery of the Gwendraeth valley.
Residents can take advantage of a communal lounge and bar, situated on the ground floor and a roof terrace on the first floor with lift access.
The dementia-friendly design of Gwalia Mynydd Mawr includes the addition of a range of assistive technologies that will help staff manage risk and support residents to stay independent for longer. These innovative technologies will be used in accordance with a person’s requirements and will improve safety and ensure a person’s needs are met as quickly as possible in order to avoid any unnecessary discomfort or anxiety.
The ethos of Gwalia Mynydd Mawr is respect for individuality. We recognise that everyone has their own particular needs and preferences and want to take the time to get to know each resident. For example, knowing what time they like to get up and go to bed, when they like to eat their meals and what their hobbies and interests are can help us to tailor our services around their personal life choices”
