“Bennett House, managed by Accord Housing Association, is a finalist for the Client Satisfaction Award in the Shropshire Care Awards 2009.

The scheme, set in the Woodside area of Telford, uses the Eden Alternative to improve the lives of its 45 residents. Eden encourages older people to care for plants and gardens as well as interact with animals and the local community.
Residents help to look after the scheme’s pet parrot and have also worked with a local college to create a beautiful sensory garden.

Mark Pearce, Assistant Director of Care & Support at Accord, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for such an outstanding award.

Staff at Bennett House work extremely hard to ensure residents are happy, feel fulfilled and are involved in the local community.
Activities and events involving residents are held regularly and since we started the Eden Alternative satisfaction amongst residents has increased.
Bennett House is a bungalow style residential care scheme for older people run by Accord Housing Association.
It provides accommodation for men and women over the age of 65 and has an emphasis on individual care, providing the maximum amount of privacy and dignity to each resident....” show more
