Show more "A property has existed at this location since 1171, when ownership of Buhern was granted to William de Mandeville, Earl of Essex by Henry II, as recorded in the Charter of Maldon. By the 18C a house appears on maps as Buchernes Farm and in 1830 it became the home of the Belsham family. Three generations lived here, corn and coal merchants, until about 1930 when the Diamond family moved in. We found it in 1987, by then the home of the Harvey family, with their children, dogs and ponies, and set about converting it to its present use. Unusually for a building of this antiquity, it has high ceilings and level floors which make it ideal for this purpose. It was extended in 2002 to its present size and configuration.

Boucherne offers a blend of historic yet homely character and modern facilities. Its twenty single and two double bedrooms are located on the ground and first floors, most with en-suite WCs and views over the gardens. The two double bedrooms, both en-suite, are ideal for married couples. The large, open-plan kitchen and dining room is the warm and vibrant heart of the home, where residents enjoy watching or helping with the cooking and other daily tasks. There are three sitting rooms, including a quiet room and a further dining room, offering variety, companionship and privacy." Show less
