We welcome applications from people from all walks of life regardless of background, gender, culture or beliefs. All residents are assured that they will be treated with dignity and respect and will be afforded recognition of their individuality at all times.

Downing House home is situated in Withington, which is on the outskirts of Manchester. The home has a garden with a lawn and patio area, which has been recently re-landscaped to ensure accessibility. The local amenities are easily accessible by means of a 2-3 minute walk and Manchester is only a 20 minute bus ride. Anyone who is over 65 years of age, male or female, who is assessed as needing residential care are encouraged to apply for a place at Downing House. Respite care can be provided if required subject to the availablility of accommodation at the time required.

Downing House has 25 single bedrooms, 14 of which include en-suite facilities. All of our non en-suite rooms have a vanity unit, which includes a wash-basin and a light above. Each room has a built-in wardrobe and a chest of drawers, secure lockable piece of furniture for the safekeeping of personal valuables. Telephone and television points are provided in each room. There are 3 assisted bathrooms, two located on the ground floor, one on the 1st floor along with 3 additional toilets for residents use. All are fitted with aids and adaptations to support independent living.

The ground floor accommodation comprises a large and comfortable lounge, decorated in a contemporary style, which has a TV area and a quiet area and there is also a newly constructed conservatory. The 1st floor, which is accessed by a talking passenger lift, has 4 bedrooms and an assisted bathroom. There is also a small suite of offices. Alarms are fitted to all external doors that give access from the outside (except the main entrance), thus protecting the security of the home and our residents.
