Ashmeadow House

The Promenade, Arnside via Carnforth, Cumbria LA5 0AD. Housing with support

Managed by: Crossfield Housing (Arnside) Society Ltd

Manager's description

“Ashmeadow House, now a listed building, was originally a Georgian residence dating from 1818, and from 1918 to 1979 was part of Earnseat School. Bought by the Crossfield Society in 2003, the derelict buildings were rebuilt and extended to provide 10 modern apartments for older people. Situated in two acres of landscaped gardens, the house looks over the Kent Estuary to the Lakeland hills beyond. Being at the end of Arnside's short promenade, it's very convenient for level access to the nearby shops, a post office and other amenities. Residents care parking is alongside the house. The house contains 4 single and 7 double apartments, each with a sitting room, bedroom and en suite facilities. Each apartment has its own heating controls and the sitting room has a large fitted unit with cooking and storage facilities. 5 of the apartments are on the groumd floor, the 6 upper level apartments being teached by a lift or stairs.
On the ground floor there is a modern laundry with ironing facilities. Other communal spaces include the dining room, conservatory, entrance hall and a residents lounge with French windows leading onto a paved and covered terrace - affording unrivalled views to the west and north. With its wide well-lit corridors, spacious halls and landings, a west-facing balcony and a secluded courtyard, Ashmeadow House combines old and new features in a house of unusual distinction.
The day-today running of the house is by the Housekeeping Team who together provide a cooked lunch using fresh produce and a light evening meal, served in the dining room for all residents. Residents can combine independence with comfort, in secure and attractive surroundings. Particular attention is given to safety, with a modern alarm-call system easily accessible in every apartment. For health and safety reasons, smoking is not permitted in the house
