Manager's description

“Charles Court is situated in the village of Armthorpe, just outside the town of Doncaster in South Yorkshire. The court is conveniently located with a range of shops and amenities within walking distance. Close to the court are churches, banks, doctors surgeries, a fish and chip shop, convenience store and newsagent. There is also a Post Office, chemist, bakery and hairdresser. Larger supermarkets can be found a short drive away.

Armthorpe has its own leisure centre with swimming pool and gym, a community centre which holds regular events and several pubs serving food. Nearby Doncaster has a wider range of shops and leisure facilities, including the Dome, the new Cast Theatre, a multi-screen cinema, ten-pin bowling alley and the Lakeside Shopping Village. Nearby attractions include the award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Doncaster Rovers Football Club, Doncaster Knights Rugby Union, the greyhound track at Stainforth and four local golf courses. Buses run every 10 minutes from a stop close to the court and will take you into Doncaster, which also has a train station providing connections to the mainline rail network. Many residents also use the local dial-a-ride scheme or reliable taxi companies to get around.

Charles Court has been recently refurbished and has a range of onsite facilities including a residents’ lounge, guest room, laundry, gym, restaurant, hairdresser, lift and car park. The court works with Doncaster Council and the Department of Health to make it a Dementia Friendly environment. The court has attractive and child-friendly gardens with raised beds, a garden shed, summer house and patio area where residents can sit and enjoy the warmer weather. Residents are welcome to get involved with tending the raised beds if they choose.

Charles Court is a friendly and welcoming development with a Tenants and Residents Association, which helps to organise a wide range of social activities including armchair exercises, art and craft classes, coffee mornings, film clubs and bingo sessions for residents and the community”

  • The staff are very friendly. Nice area with lots of shops. Made by a resident in 2017

  • Great environment, lovely staff who really care about us. Peace of mind for our relatives who know someone checks on us to keep us safe. Relative's partner says where we live "looks like a hotel". Sums it up really! Made by a resident in 2017
