"Inglis Court is a friendly scheme in the small village of Ellenborough just outside Maryport. The village, which sits on the Solway Firth, enjoys the mountains of Scotland as its backdrop.

Maryport town centre is just a mile from the court and has a long seafaring history, and holds an annual trawler race for local fishermen. The town retains a small fishing fleet with fresh fish available daily on the harbourside. Next to the harbour is the town’s promenade which offers views of the Scottish hills and the marina.

The town has a range of attractions including indoor go-karts, an aquarium, maritime museum and a Roman museum where digs are carried out. The annual Blues Festival is visited by people from all over the world.

Ellenborough is six miles from the historic market town of Cockermouth and seven miles from Workington, which has a multi-screen cinema. The Lake District is half an hour’s drive away.

Buses run every half hour to Maryport and the surrounding areas from a stop just outside the court, and there is a community car service which is used by residents. The railway station, a short drive away, offers services via Carlisle to the rest of the country.

Inglis Court has a residents’ lounge, guest room, communal kitchen, laundry and private Car park. The court has several lawns with seating areas and attractive, well-maintained gardens with flowering cherry trees, mature shrubs and flowers. Many of the residents get involved with tending their own areas of the garden or planting pots of flowers." Show less
