Socialising > Lunch clubs
Lunch clubs, sometimes called luncheon clubs, provide elderly people with the opportunity to socialise over a regular shared lunch. There are many lunch clubs throughout the country, and they can operate from daily to once or twice a month. Lunch clubs can have a membership of a few up to around 50 older people, and they operate in a range of venues. Some are relatively informal arrangements where a few people meet regularly for a pub or restaurant meal, and some are specifically for people of specific ethnic or cultural background. Local Social Services offices usually have details of available lunch clubs. There will be a small charge for the meal which usually provides a hot healthy midday meal.
