Care > Relief care

Relief care provides unpaid carers of frail elderly people with regular breaks from their caring duties, so that their own health doesn’t suffer. Temporary care is provided by a trained person who will stay with the elderly person and carry out the tasks normally done by the carer, and it is usually during the daytime. Relief care can be provided on a regular weekly basis, or for one-off occasions, and provides respite for carers and continued essential assistance for older people.
