The Honiton Voluntary Car Service

What does it do?

Provides transport to medical appointments for people living in Honiton, and other villages in the area - these include Awliscombe, Payhembury, Broadhembury, Offwell, Dunkeswell, Luppitt, Yarcombe, Cotleigh, Stockland, Farway, Weston, Northleigh & Southleigh. Destinations include Honiton surgery and hospital, Axminster hospital, Exeter & the RD&E, Dorchester  and Taunton hospitals, plus local chiropodist, dentist and opticians appointments.Transport for wheelchair users and the disabled who cannot get in a car can be supplied in our specialist vehicle.

Who it is for?

For local residents who are unable to use regular forms of public transport due to disability or factors associated with old age.

Local service (East Devon).

What it costs:

Charges are based on mileage covered (with a small contribution towards the cost of administering the service) and
are reimbursed to the drivers. There is a minimum charge of £4.00 for the return journey, usually the driver will wait for the passenger and will then take them home. Payment is made directly to the driver at the time of the journey. People on certain benefits may be entitled to reclaim a portion of the cost for the journey to hospital appointments at the hospital  main desk, the driver will give a receipt if required.
