Crediton & District Voluntary Car Scheme

What does it do?

This scheme relies on volunteers providing transport using their own cars. People may use the service to attend medical appointments, visit hospitals, do shopping etc.

Who it is for?

For local residents who are unable to use regular forms of public transport due to disability or factors associated with old age.

Where it is available?

Local service (Mid Devon).

What it costs:

The co-ordinator can advise on the cost of the journey, whether a single or return journey. Passengers are charged a mileage rate of 45p per mile they travel for a return journey and 60p per mile for a single journey. The minimum charge is £3.50.

How to access or apply for it:

Call 01363 773303, Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm. Please try to give at least 24 hours notice.

Additional information:

An escort travels at £3.00 maximum. Payment is made direct to the driver who issues a receipt. Passengers are responsible for any car parking charges. A wait of more than two hours is charged as two single journeys if the driver leaves and returns again.
