What does it do?The meals are cooked locally and delivered hot, served in foil trays.

A typical meal consists of beef, chicken or fish, potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Sweets are usually hot, although cold choices such as trifle and cheesecake are available. You should eat your hot meal straight away. You must never leave it to cool and then reheat it.

All meals are nutritionally balanced. However, you do need to eat well the rest of the day to make sure you meet all of your daily requirements. We want you to enjoy your meals.

Who it is for: You may be able to receive this service provided that you live in the borough of Sefton and are unable to obtain at least one cooked meal each day because: - You are unable to prepare your own meals due to disability or illness or - You are recovering from an operation or illness and need temporary help.

What it costs: Sefton Council reviews the charges for its services every year. If you already receive a service, we will write and tell you about any changes as soon as they are made. If you would like details of the current charges for meals, please contact the Community Meals Office on 0151 934 4452/3/4. You will be invoiced at the end of each month

What to expect then: Before you can receive a service, we need to carry out an assessment of your needs to see if you are eligible. This can be arranged by speaking to the Duty Social Worker at your local Social Care Office.
