What does it do?
The Centre is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 4.30pm. Most people arrive by 10.15am and start to leave at 3.30pm.
We encourage people who use the centre to be as independent as possible by providing support that is tailored to each person's individual needs. By providing a friendly atmosphere, people can feel comfortable and be able to socialise and make friends.
Through a variety of individual and group activities we help people to develop new skills and regain lost abilities, whilst being encouraged to become more actively involved in the day to day running of the centre. Activities available include painting, drawing, music, work in the greenhouse, card and board games, cookery, crafts, community trips and tasting sessions from different cultures. A number of quizzes, word games, gentle exercise sessions and discussion groups are also run and if people want, we can explore activities such as using computers.
Three groups of up to twelve people normally get together each morning, with each group having at least one member of staff to supervise the activities that have been planned for the day. After lunch people generally pursue individual interest, with less supervision from staff.
A balanced two-course meal, with a choice of menu is served every lunchtime. Special dietary needs are catered for. We also serve tea and coffee and biscuits on arrival and again in the afternoon, before going home.
