What does it do?Many of Age UK Stockport’s services will be helpful to informal carers and some have been specifically developed to provide that all important assistance to informal carers.

The number of older people cared for at home by relatives or friends is increasing. Carers may often find it difficult to have any time for themselves or are unable to take a break from their caring responsibilities.

CARERS SUPPORT is designed to give respite from the pressures of caring duties to support quality of life for both the carer and the person being cared for.Trained and caring workers provide regular one-to-one support by taking over caring duties for a few hours each week to enable the carer to have an effective break away. The service has particular expertise on support for carers of dementia sufferers.
