Social Welfare

What does it do?

The Social Welfare Department provides a complementary service to that of the Local Authority. The independence of the Guild means that we can:
•  take on cases that fall outside of their remit and eligibility criteria.
• advocate on people’s behalf when they have difficulties in accessing statutory services or assistance.

The Guild is able to put together packages of help which combine its resources and knowledge with those of others in the care field by:
• providing gifted furniture or clothing.
• a small grant for essential cooking equipment.
• welfare advice and advocacy /signposting in accessing other services.

We welcome and deal with many enquiries, confidentially, each year from people of all ages and backgrounds. We are able to offer access to specialist advice and support.
