What does it do?An alam unit is installed in your home, and is connected to our control centre via the telephone network. In an emergency this will enable you to contact the control centre within seconds, and the appropriate help is summoned immediately. When a call is received, we will either send one of our Community Lifeline Officers to visit you or contact the relevant emergency service, your doctor, relatives, friends, or a keyholder.

People who feel vulnerable or at risk in their own home

Where it is available:

Local service covering: Brighton & Hove, Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes, Rother, Wealden (East Sussex).

What it costs:

You can pay for your Lifeline by direct debit monthly, quarterly or annually in advance, which ever you choose. If you prefer, arrangements can be made to send the account to a third party for payment, for example a relative or your solicitor etc. The charge includes

  • 24 hour monitoring & Community Lifeline Officer response,
  • replacement of faulty units/lost pendants same day, and
  • six monthly visit to check the equipment.
