What does it do?

Occupational Therapy entails:

Encouraging and enabling the service user to make the best use of their abilities
Recognising that people are individuals and that each person and their carer(s) have unique strengths and needs
Retain maximum dignity and respect
Promoting the service user’s independence within their own homes and locality, recognising that this may involve a degree of acceptable risk
Consulting fully with the service user and carer
Promoting changes to the environment to remove many of the barriers that prevent people with disabilities moving around freely and easily.

Who it is for?

This service is available to people who have a physical and/or sensory problem either from birth or as a result of illness, accident or ageing.

Where it is available?

Local service (Ellesmere Port and Neston, Vale Royal, Chester).

What it costs:

The cost of the service will depend on the intervention required, there are disabled facilities grants available which are means tested if a major adaptation is required.

How to access or apply for it:

The Initial Response Occupational Therapy Team – Referral and Advice is the first point of contact for all referrals and general enquiries. You can contact them from 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday on 0151 337 6400.

What to expect then:

When you contact us we'll discuss your situation over the phone, if your problem can not be resolved by any other means, the Referral and Advice Team will refer you to the appropriate Occupational Therapy team who will visit you at home and carry out a full assessment of your needs.
