What does it do?The Handyfix.it service provides minor repairs to domestic properties within the County. The works are carried out by one of a team of Handymen,who are employed directly by Age UK and who have all been vetted through the Criminal Records Bureau for their suitability for working with older people.
Examples of work which can be undertaken are:-
Minor plumbing works and replacement of taps and washers,
Putting up shelving ,curtain rails and similar
Easing / rehanging of doors,
Replacing door locks.
Handyfix.it is the fitting service for those departments of Age UK Warwickshire who provide stair and grab rails, key safes or any other pratical aspects of daily life.
Please note that the handyperson scheme does not cover electrical, gas or roof work nor repairs to domestic appliances. |
Who it is for: Warwickshire residents aged 50 and above, registered disabled and parents with disabled children. | Where it is available: Local service covering: North Warwickshire, Nuneaton & Bedworth, Rugby, Stratford-on-Avon, Warwick (Warwickshire). | What it costs: This is a chargeable service and the current rates £18.50 per hour (minimum charge -1 hour) plus 50p per mile travelling expenses from the Handyman's home to client. If you are on any Means Tested Benefits the hourly rate is reduced to £5 per hour with no mileage charge.
