What does it do?
Equipment is installed which may be connected to your telephone line, with a pendant for a person to wear on their neck or on the wrist. The pendant has a button to contact us in an emergency, even if you can’t get to the telephone. There is other equipment which can be provided that can contact carers to remind you to take your medication.
The safe and sound service provides additional benefits and support for people who are having problems with:
• bogus callers
Who it is for?The service is available to anyone of any age who is assessed as needing help to feel safer, more protected and independent in their own home.
This includes people:
• with health problems
• who have had falls
• who are struggling with frailty or illness
• who have dementia
• who live alone
• who have just come out of hospital
• who care for someone else
You can also be assessed for equipment such as smoke alarms, fall detectors, heat sensors which are linked to the alarm unit and medication dispensers which are not linked.
Where it is available?Local service covering: Bradford (West Yorkshire).
What it costs:There is a weekly charge for the service which is £3 per week plus VAT if applicable. This may change in the future. The charge can be paid as an annual bill or a monthly standing order.
If you do not live in Bradford and would not pay Council Tax to Bradford Council, but still wish to use our service because you live close to the Bradford boundary (within one mile), then we can provide equipment and 24/7 control centre support for a small weekly fee, but we cannot provide a response, other than the contacts you provide us with.
How to access or apply for it:
Access to the service is by self referral, via your doctor, hospital, district nurse, social worker or occupational therapist.
