 | What does it do?When an older person finds it difficult to leave the house, one of the first problems they encounter, unless friends or family are able to assist, is their weekly shopping.
Age UK Bristol is very conscious of such problems and, as part of their commitment to enable the older person maintain as much of their independence as possible, a telephone shopping scheme was introduced in February 2009. It is currently fully subscribed, but it is hoped that it can be re-opened to prospective users in the New Year.
With the client’s consent, an account is opened on their behalf at their chosen supermarket. Any, or all, of four supermarkets are available and, once registered, an Age UK Bristol volunteer telephones weekly to obtain a shopping order to be placed on line. Shopping is delivered from the supermarket direct to the client’s house. |
