LinkAgesHomesharing Placements

What does it do?LinkAges helps to facilitate homsharing placements between homeowners and students. We arrange both short-term and long-term placements, which increase inter-generational understanding. Both homeowners and students benefit from living together by sharing skills and resources with each other.

Each placement we make is uniquely tailored to suit the needs and wants of the people involved. Before the student and homeowner start the scheme, we help both sides draw up a homesharing agreement which outlines mutual expectations and responsibilities. For instance, homeowners with teenage children might ask a student to provide tutoring for exams while homeowners living alone might ask for help with the shopping or companionship in the evenings. Students commit to give at least 10 hours of their time each week to help their homeowner.

In order to make successful matches, we interview all students and homeowners who would like to participate on the scheme. From these interview we draw up character profiles, which are used to help us suggest matches that both sides will enjoy.

Who it is for:

Older homewoners who would like to share their home with a student.

The two things that all our homeowners have in common is that they have a spare room and they are happy to live with a student for a fixed amount of time. We welcome applications from any homeowner who fulfills these criteria. Whether you live alone, with a partner or with a large family we will try to find the best match for your situation.
