Age UK NorfolkActive Together

What does it do?Active Together is Age UK Norfolk’s befriending service. It offers older people in Norfolk a range of services where older people and volunteers come together to increase social contact. This can be by telephone, home visits or in the community.

By telephone
We offer telephone based befriending which aims to provide emotional support, mental stimulation, fun, entertainment and friendship through a weekly social telephone call.

At home
Volunteers will visit older people at home to work together on agreed tasks or activities, such as cleaning, gardening, shopping, cooking, walking the dog! And much more, promoting re-ablement, independence and social inclusion.

In the community
If older people want help to engage in their local community by joining a club, volunteering, going on locally arranged outings etc, we will provide support to enable them to do this.

We also offer:
  • a signposting service - if we cannot help you directly with a question or query we will always put you in touch with someone who can
  • a quarterly newsletter containing quizzes, a letters page, a book club, contributions by older people etc.
  • Christmas and birthday cards.
