What does it do?Age UK Hertfordshire's Asian outreach workers can speak many Asian languages. They understand the cultural, social and religious needs of older people living in their local communities.
We have outreach workers in North Herts who offer:
- Information and advice on a variety of issues
- Advocacy services
- Interpretation and translation
- Help to access health and social care services
- Home visits, office appointments and support at our day centres
We also have a Carer Support worker for the Asian Community in Hitchin and Letchworth. See our 'Carer Support' service

We run day centre services for older people from Asian communities in North Herts and Welwyn Hatfield. We have centres in Hitchin, Letchworth and Welwyn Garden City where a team of friendly, supportive staff and volunteers are on hand to welcome and assist you.
At our centres you can:
- Receive information and help to access other services
- Enjoy a vegetarian Asian meal in the company of new friends
- Participate in traditional activities or try something new
- Celebrate special events
- Relax in comfortable surroundings
- Exercise to music
- Learn new skills
- Go on regular outings
