What does it do?The aim of the Advocacy Service is to help older people make their views and wishes known clearly.

Mission Statement

To provide a responsive Independent Advocacy Service to our clients: offering a person-centred approach to problem solving and empowering our clients to make informed choices from the available options.

To do this we need to understand your difficulty.

You are important, and so is what you want to do and say. Sometimes it is hard to make people understand your point of view. This situation is frustrating for people of any age. It is particularly difficult for older people when they may have decisions to make about their future.

Listening to you
Obtaining information and helping you to understand it
Helping you to speak up for yourself or speaking for you if necessary

Who it is for: for older people in Essex
Where it is available: Local service covering: Basildon, Braintree, Brentwood, Castle point, Chelmsford, Colchester, Epping Forest, Harlow, Maldon, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea, Tendring, Thurrock, Uttlesford (Essex).
What it costs: Our service is free and independent.
How to access or apply for it: Age Concern Essex are the providers of the IMCA and DoLS statutory advocacy services as defined by the Mental Capacity Act 2005 as well as those for Deprivation of Liberty, for the West Essex, Mid Essex and North East Essex NHS areas.
