Home Help Service provided by Age UK EssexWhat does it do?
A vital role of Age UK Essex Home Help Service is maintaining the independence of older people living in their own homes. Our service does just that by helping with every day tasks, crucially, of course, helping with housework and/or shopping.
We achieve this by providing a good quality and reliable service. All our Home Helps are trained, insured and vetted, and we endeavour to provide the same Home Help, on the same day and time each week.

Who it is for?
The service is for people over 50 living in their own homes who have difficulty doing housework and/or shopping.
Where it is available?
Local service (Epping Forest, Harlow, Maldon, Southend-on-Sea, Tendring, Thurrock, Uttlesford, Basildon, Braintree, Brentwood, Castle point, Chelmsford, Colchester, Rochford).
What it costs:
The Home Help Service is a weekly service and there is a charge for the service - a one-off registration fee, an hourly cost, and a mileage charge for shopping if our Home Helps use their vehicles.
How to access or apply for it:
The service is countywide and has a local office in most areas; all telephone numbers are listed below.
Contact the nearest office to where you live and the Co-ordinator will discuss the service with you and arrange for a Home Visit to be carried out by member of staff to register you for the service we provide. Your details will then be passed back to the Co-ordinator and a Home Help will be allocated to you.
