Dudley Advocacy

What does it do?

What is Advocacy?

Advocacy recognises that although in law we may all have equal rights in reality, this is not always so.
To exercise your rights, firstly you have to know what they are and secondly you have to have the skills and resources to do something about them. Not everyone is able to do this without help. Advocacy is a way to redress that imbalance.
So, advocacy is - The representation and pursuit of the rights of another person as if they were your own.
This means - supporting or acting on behalf ofanother person to secure the services they require and/or rights to which they are entitled.
These sorts of rights include-
  • To ask
  • To question
  • To be heard
  • To receive answers
