 | What does it do?The Promoting Independence & Prevention Project supports older people to maintainor regain their independence by providing information and putting them in contact with the services they need, in their local community.
What the service can offer:
- Information and advice on healthy living, clubs, social groups and leisure activities
- Information and advice on housing issues, aids and adaptations, problems with goods and services.
- Home safety and security assessments to reduce the risk of accidents and make your home more secure
- Support to help you access the right services
- Help to prevent hospital admissions or recover after hospital treatment or ill health
- Help through such things as support groups, social activities and bridge building to help to become more socially active in the community.

Who it is for: Older people in West Cumbria | Where it is available: Local service covering: Allerdale, Barrow-in-Furness, Carlisle, Copeland, Eden, South Lakeland (Cumbria). | How to access or apply for it:
- Contact the PIPP team in your locality
- You can also be referred by a carer, relative, friend, or a Health or Social Care professional - provided that they have your permission
- Home visits can be arranged if appropriate (please note that the PIPP Worker would NEVER visit without first making an appointment).
