We provide advice, support and practical help to older homeowners and private tenants and people of any age with a disability who need help to repair, improve or adapt their homes so that they can continue to live comfortably, safely and independently. The support the service provides includes:
- Arranging home visits to discuss the range of services we provide
- Help to identify what repairs, improvements or adaptations are needed
- Providing information on the range of options available to fund work to your home
- Help to complete grant and loan application forms
- Drawing of plans and preparation of specifications
- Help to choose a builder from an approved list of contractors, obtaining estimates and organising the work
- Dealing with payments
- Support from start to finish
- Refer on as appropriate for other services
Repairs and Adaptations Carrying out any form of building work or adaptations to your home can be fraught with problems and a difficult process to manage. Norwich Care & Repair is there to provide you with the support and practical help you need to complete the work. Works can include: - Roofing and Insulation
- Replacing windows & doors
- Major electrical or plumbing works
- Damp or dry rot treatment
- Repointing
- Installation of walk in/level access showers
- Ramps, handrails, stairlifts
- Making your home more accessible for wheelchairs
- ....and more
We work closely with both the Local Council and the Occupational Therapists to ensure the design of adaptations meet your needs. |
Who it is for: Older homeowners and private tenants and people of any age with a disability | Where it is available: Local service covering: Norwich (Norfolk). | What it costs: If you have a low income and/or receive benefits, a grant may be available for repairs or adaptations. If you do not receive benefits or are unsure if you can claim Norwich Care & Repair can advise on eligibility and help you to claim.
Even if you are not eligible for grants or benefits or if you have some savings, you may still be able to apply for a discretionary loan from the local authority for work to help you bring your home up to a certain standard.
