What does it do?If you want to stay in your own home but are worried about how you will manage, we can provide advice on repairing or adapting your home and will support you in maintaining your independence at home.

The Care & Repair
Handyperson service covers the whole of Knowsley and is available to all Knowsley residents who require our support. We will help you to:
- Make your home safe from crime
- Fit grab rails to prevent falls and aid mobility
- Improve access to your home and garden
- Do small plumbing and joinery jobs
- Prevent slips trips and falls around the home
We can arrange to visit you in your home to discuss:
- Any repair or maintenance problems
- Arrange quotes from one of our approved contractors
- Offer advice on all Care & Repair services, welfare benefits and referrals to other Knowsley services where appropriate
- Assist you to secure funding including equity release, charitable funding, statutory grants, personal finance, credit union & bank loans
Our Home From Hospital Service can:
- Install internal stair rails and banister rails
- Add half steps to existing steps
- Fix grab rails and drop down rails in the bathroom
- Fit toilet frames
- Secure loose carpets
- Move furniture to suit your needs
- Fit double adapter plugs
Our Gardening Service aims to help older and/or vulnerable people to continue to use their gardens and improve safety and security outside of their home.
What work can we do?
- General tidy-ups
- Lawn cutting and weeding
- Hedge trimming
- Garden clearance
- Jet wash paving to remove moss & prevent slips
- Winter and spring tidy ups
- Advice and help on making gardens low maintenance
We do have to make a charge of £15 per hour which is then re-invested into the service so we are able to offer the service to as many people as possible.
Our Painting and Decorating Service can help you to modernise and improve the look of your home with the minimum of fuss. You decide what you want done and we will:
- Strip off old wallpaper
- Prepare surfaces for decorating
- Undercoating before applying gloss/emulsion
- Painting ceilings
- Paint or varnish doors
We do have to make a charge of £15 per hour which is then re-invested into the service so we are able to offer the service to as many people as possible.
Home Security
- Do you need new window or door locks or door chains?
- Have you got a door spy hole?
- Do you require additional light outside your home?
- Would you like additional security on external doors?
- Have you considered fitting Prikka fencing your existing walls & fencing?
If you have considered any of the above or would like to discuss any minor security improvements, Care & Repair Handyperson service will carry out these tasks. The charge for this service is £7.50 per visit. If the work requires a specialist we are able to obtain quotes on your behalf from one of our contractors.
