What does it do?

Advisory list of contractors
: A list of reliable contractors who have agreed to work to a code of conduct. Available for all households, free of charge.

Affordable warmth/ energy efficiency: Advice on keeping warm at home and grants that may be available for heating and insulation. Available for all households. Charges are dependant on circumstances.

Disabled adaptations: Offered to homes to provide access to and from the home and facilities within the home. Assessment of needs required (certain adaptations may be subject to a means test). Charges are dependant on circumstances. Find out more here: www.boltonathome.org.uk/disabled-adaptations

Fire safety: Smoke alarms and fire safety checks provided by the Greater Manchester Fire Service. Available to all households, free of charge.

Handyperson service (including gas and electric): Help with small jobs around the home such as fixing gutters, fitting door chains, draught proofing or fixing dripping taps. Work is time limited to 2 or 3 hours depending on the nature of the job. Available to those aged 60+ or if under 60 then must be in receipt of DLA or PIP. Subsidised charges apply.

Home repairs assistance: Essential housing repairs to enable older people to remain living independently in their home. Available to owner-occupiers, aged 60+ and in receipt of guaranteed pension credit or council tax benefit. Minimum grant assistance applies.

Housing information and advice: Advice to assist people to maintain their home and if appropriate, signposting for support to help them move to more suitable housing. Available to all householders free of charge.

Home improvement assistance: Large scale improvements to make homes decent and healthy for the most vulnerable households. Availability is based on assessment of property condition and need. Charges are dependant on circumstances.
